Extraordinary victory for VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè at the Giro della Città di Reggio Calabria. Luca Colnaghi, born in 1999, claimed his first professional win, crossing the finish line on the Falcomatà seafront ahead of Davide Bais and Lorenzo Finn. The three riders seized the right moment about 20 kilometers from the finish, launched their move, and managed to hold off the peloton all the way to the line.

Just off the podium was an excellent Martin Marcellusi, who won the bunch sprint. Also finishing in the top 10 were Enrico Zanoncello (7th) and Filippo Fiorelli (8th).

Colnaghi’s words after the race:
“It’s an overwhelming emotion. It’s my first win wearing this team’s jersey, and it’s a success I’ve been chasing for a long time. It came at a difficult moment for me, a period in which I had to deal with several issues that kept me off the bike for a while. I know my physical condition isn’t at its best yet, but sometimes using your head and your heart is enough to achieve great results.”

Did you face any difficulties today?
“Yes, I definitely wasn’t at my best today, both physically and due to some personal challenges I’ve been going through recently. On the climbs, I got dropped two or three times, but I managed to fight my way back. Days like this prove that, in certain situations, your mind can matter more than your legs.”

Who do you dedicate this victory to?
“Obviously, I dedicate it to my family, who always supports me, to everyone who stands by me every day, and of course, to the whole team.”
