VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: TURCONI IS THE BEST ITALIAN RIDER AT THE GIRO NEXT GEN.

COMUNICATO STAMPA

Il 22 Jun, 2025
The rider from Varese finishes 10th in the final stage, fifth in the overall standings, and first among the Italians. Matteo Scalco also secures a spot in the final top 10.

Filippo Turconi, rider of VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè, finished 10th in the final stage of the Giro Next Gen, securing his fifth Top 10 in the race, including a second-place finish in stage five. The rider from Varese, together with his teammate Matteo Scalco, stayed with the lead group during the final laps of the Pinerolo circuit, eventually crossing the line in 10th place. Just outside the Top 10, Scalco finished in 12th position.

Turconi was the best-placed Italian in the general classification, taking an impressive 5th overall, which earned him the tricolour jersey as the top Italian rider. Matteo Scalco also claimed a spot in the overall Top 10, finishing 9th.

These were Turconi’s words:
“On the last time up the longer climb, around 3 kilometers, I immediately tried to set my own pace, aiming to put Novak under pressure and fight for a podium spot. I didn’t succeed, but that’s absolutely fine—I’m happy and have no regrets. The final was extremely tough. The climb had very steep gradients, and the heat really took a toll. After eight days of racing at a high pace, we were all at our limits, completely exhausted. This result could give my career a boost, although it’s hard to say where it will lead right now. I obviously want to thank the team—we all did a great job.”

VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè also claimed second place in the team classification, a sign of a strong collective performance.
