Matteo Scalco, rider of VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè, secured a prestigious result at the Gran Premio di Capodarco, where the team played an active role in the race, attacking with the Turconi-Scalco duo. The rider from Vicenza, who won last week’s GP Poggiana, stayed with the leading group and rejoined the front in the finale to contest the victory.

These were his words:
“The breakaway went clear right from the start with ten riders, but it wasn’t particularly dangerous. The race consisted of eight laps on a climb, and the first real moves began around the fourth or fifth lap. It’s a course that always puts riders to the test: on the climb you stay in small groups, but afterwards there’s time to recover and the peloton tends to regroup. On the final lap I was alone, while there were three Bahrain riders, three from Colpack, and two from UAE. Novak and Omzrel pushed ahead, and I managed to stay up there, finishing in fourth place. I’m satisfied with the result: it confirms that I’m going through a good period.”
