COMUNICATO STAMPA

The athletes of VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè were protagonists from start to finish in the opening stage of O Gran Camiño. Bringing the race to life from the very first kilometers was Filippo Turconi, a 2005-born rider from Varese, who joined the breakaway group. Thanks to his victory in the first intermediate sprint and the time bonuses, he claimed the lead in the young riders’ classification and earned the white jersey.
After being caught by the peloton shortly before the second KOM, Turconi saw Martin Marcellusi launch a bold long-range attack 35 km from the finish, together with Spaniard Castellón. The two managed to gain a gap of up to 1’10”, but the chasing group gradually closed in. With 10 km to go, Marcellusi made a solo attempt, but his move was neutralized by Soudal, which successfully completed the chase at the -6 km mark.
In the final sprint, Filippo Magli secured tenth place—his first Top 10 finish of the season.
