While part of the team is engaged in the Tirreno Adriatico, the young riders will participate in the Istrian Spring Trophy, which consists of the classic opening prologue and three stage races, all with significant elevation changes. The 6 young riders from VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè at the start will be Mattia Stenico, Andrea Montagner, Filippo Cettolin, the two Colombians Edward Cruz and Martin Herreño, and the most experienced rider, sprinter Luca Colnaghi.

Mirko Rossato, sporting director of the Youth Project, says: ‘This is the first stage race of the year for the young riders, an important step to gain experience and, above all, improve in terms of physical condition. However, I must admit that it’s time to start seeing some concrete results. Moreover, we have Colnaghi with us, who is here to take advantage of the opportunity to build rhythm and face the stages that suit sprinters, after the unfortunate circumstances he has faced recently. This will also be useful in supporting me as a sporting director in the upcoming races, a fundamental opportunity to teach the young riders how to conduct themselves in races.’
