VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: FILIPPO TURCONI AND MARTIN MARCELLUSI IN THE BREAKAWAY AT MILANO-SANREMO.

The VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè had two riders in the breakaway at Milano-Sanremo. Among the eight breakaway riders of the day were Martin Marcellusi and the very young Filippo Turconi, born in 2005. The group took off early in the race, building a maximum lead of five minutes.

For Turconi, this being his first participation in a Monument Classic, it was an excellent result, having ridden 240 km in the breakaway before being caught by the main peloton. It’s worth noting that the rider from Varese was the youngest participant in Milano-Sanremo.

In the final, just before the Cipressa climb, it was Martin Marcellusi who took the spotlight, launching a brave solo attack 41 km from the finish line. The Roman rider was the last of the breakaway to be caught by the peloton, right at the foot of the Cipressa.

These are Martin Marcellusi’s words: “We interpreted the race to the best of our abilities, and when I went on the attack, it was emotional to hear the fans shouting my name. I think these are emotions that only races like this can provide.”

These are Filippo Turconi’s words: “Today, there were a lot of emotions. I had been waiting for this moment ever since I was told I would participate in Milano-Sanremo. It was an important day, and I wanted to honor it in the best way possible, while still keeping my calm. My goal was to get into the breakaway, and I gave my all to make it happen. I was worried about not finishing the race, but I managed myself well. It’s definitely a good start and a key step in my career as a rider.”
