COMUNICATO STAMPA

In stage 14 of the Giro d’Italia, from Treviso to Nova Gorica/Gorizia over a total of 190 kilometers, Martin Marcellusi (VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè) was one of the key protagonists of the day, joining the main breakaway around 22 kilometers after the start.
The race came alive with about 24 km to go, when a crash split the main peloton. The breakaway maintained good chances until the final kilometers, where Kasper Asgreen launched a decisive attack with 6 km remaining. In the last two kilometers, Marcellusi was unfortunately involved in a crash that prevented him from contesting the victory.
Martin Marcellusi’s comments:
“There’s a lot of regret, because I was up front and I truly believed in it today. I felt good and thought it could be my chance. Unfortunately, the crash in the finale changed everything, and it hurts—especially after a day like this. But the Giro is still long, there are more stages suited to my characteristics, and I’ll do everything I can to try again. The condition is there, and so is the motivation to bounce back.”
