VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: FILIPPO TURCONI DEFENDS THIRD PLACE IN THE OVERALL STANDINGS AND THE TRICOLORE JERSEY.

COMUNICATO STAMPA

Il 20 Jun, 2025
The rider from Varese is still the best-placed Italian in the standings (3rd); tomorrow is the Queen Stage with a finish in Prato Nevoso.

In the sixth stage of the Giro Next Gen, Filippo Turconi defended his third place in the general classification and retained the tricolore jersey as the best Italian rider. The situation remains unchanged for the young rider born in 2005: he currently sits in third place, 36 seconds behind the leader and pink jersey holder, Luke Tuckwell.

These were Turconi’s words:
“These stages are really hard to control. Even today, there was a lot of chaos at the start trying to establish the right breakaway: there were numerous attacks before the decisive group finally formed and managed to get away after quite some time, ultimately making it to the finish. Our initial goal was to get one of our riders into the break to also go for the stage win. We didn’t manage that, but we regrouped and stayed united, trying to defend ourselves as best we could. Tomorrow we’re facing a very tough stage. The goal is to defend my position in the general classification, but if I feel good, there might even be a chance to gain some time.”

Tomorrow’s stage, from Bra to Prato Nevoso, will be crucial for the general classification, ahead of the grand finale in Pinerolo on the final day.
