VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: GIRO NEXT GEN. FILIPPO TURCONI 6TH IN THE QUEEN STAGE.

COMUNICATO STAMPA

Il 21 Jun, 2025
The rider from Varese holds firmly onto fourth place in the overall standings, confirming himself as the best Italian in the race. Matteo Scalco finishes the stage in eighth position and gains ground in the general classification, breaking into the Top 10 with ninth overall.

In the penultimate stage of the Giro Next Gen, from Bra to Prato Nevoso, Filippo Turconi (born in 2005), riding for VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè, secured a solid sixth place, confirming himself as the best Italian in the race and retaining the tricolour jersey. The rider from Varese currently sits in fourth place in the general classification, 52 seconds behind the pink jersey, Luke Tuckwell. It was also a strong performance from Matteo Scalco, from Vicenza, who finished eighth on the stage and moved into the top ten overall: he is now ninth in the general classification and the third-best Italian.

These were the words of Filippo Turconi: “I’m really happy with today’s result – I honestly didn’t expect it to go this well. The stage was particularly tough, but I chose to manage my pace, especially in the final kilometres. About two and a half kilometres from the finish, Nordhagen and the others picked up the pace, but I preferred to stick to my own rhythm and reach the summit having given everything I had. My main goal remains the general classification, so the important thing today was to lose as little time as possible. Now I’m fourth overall, and that’s still the priority. Tomorrow, if I have the legs, I’ll try to fight back for the podium. It’ll definitely be an active stage – with such small gaps between many riders, I expect a battle, especially on the final two climbs.”
