The rider from Vicenza, racing for VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè, secured a brilliant fifth place on the day, a result that also moves him up to fifth in the general classification.
Scalco was one of the most active riders of the day, managing to join the leading group that contested the final victory.

With 5 km to go, he launched a bold attack to surprise the others, but his effort was neutralized in the closing kilometers. Once again, it was Belgian Jarno Widar who took the decisive winning move.
