Matteo Scalco claims his first win of the season at the Gran Premio Sportivi di Poggiana. The rider from Vicenza, together with Matthew Dodd, set off in pursuit of the day’s breakaway and prevailed in a two-man sprint. This marks Scalco’s first victory since the 2023 Coppa della Pace, won in his debut year among the Under 23 ranks in the youth project.

His words:“It was a fantastic day for me — I was basically racing on home roads. I often train here, I’ve known these roads well since I was in the youth categories: with the team, we often passed through these areas. Today I felt good: I was coming from the Giro della Valle d’Aosta where I had good sensations. I tried to attack already on the second lap and managed to rejoin the leading group. Then, when the legs started to feel the effort, I stayed with Dodd and we fought for victory in the sprint: I tried to use a bit of cunning, letting him launch early, and the choice paid off. I dedicate this success to the team, my family, and also to myself. I had won as a first-year Under 23, but then I couldn’t repeat it, even though I achieved several placings. I had been missing this victory, and I’m really happy.”
