Launched into professional cycling by VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè, he showcased his talent from the very beginning. In 2021, during his second year as a professional, he stunned everyone by securing a podium finish in the fourth stage of the Giro d’Italia, placing third. In 2022, he achieved an impressive 20 top-ten finishes, highlighted by a victory in the first stage of the Sibiu Cycling Tour and a prestigious fifth place at the Bretagne Classic. However, his Giro d’Italia campaign that year was cut short when he had to withdraw during the fifth stage in Sicily, his homeland.
The year 2023 marked a period of great success: he claimed four podium finishes, including a remarkable second place in the final stage of the Giro d’Italia in Rome, finishing just behind Mark Cavendish. Overall, he notched 27 top-ten results, adding to his palmarès with podiums at the Sibiu Tour in Romania (third) and the Giro di Sicilia (second) in the third stage at Termini Imerese.
In 2024, he stood out once again at the Giro d’Italia, wearing the ciclamino jersey for two days, earned during the stage to Oropa. Toward the end of the race, with consistent long-range attacks, he also secured the intermediate sprint classification award.
