BARDIANI CSF FAIZANÈ: 4TH PLACE FOR ENRICO BATTAGLIN IN THE SETTIMANA CICLISTICA ITALIANA.

Second stage of the Settimana Ciclistica Italiana with a final very open to different scenarios. At the end it is a sprint, won by Pascal Ackerman from Bora, with a final 4th of Enrico Battaglin of the Bardiani CSF Faizanè.

Enrico Battaglin tries again the result, after the good podium of the Giro dell’Appennino, today a good 4th place in a high level competition. Although this is the first edition, the Settimana Ciclistica Italiana, it is in fact reserving a great show and big names including many of the protagonists expected at the next Olympics.

Today’s stage from Sassari to Oristano of 185 km included over 2,400 meters of difference in altitude, but a potential arrival for fast wheels if the right action was not taken on the various roughness of the day. There were numerous attempts during the day both on the ascent, but also on the final descent where a small group of attackers had formed, then taken up by the group. In the end there was also an attempt by Alberto Bettiol, competing with the Italian national team, also caught by the group. So it is a final sprint to decide the stage, won by Pascal Ackerman, ahead of Peak Barnabas, Sep Vanmarcke and Enrico Battaglin.

Highlights of the second stage will be broadcasted this evening at 18.55 by Raisport. The race will continue on the roads of Sardinia until next Sunday 18 July.
