BARDIANI CSF FAIZANÈ: MIRCO MAESTRI WINS THE GP SLOVENIAN ISTRIA. IT IS THE 4TH SUCCESS OF THE TEAM IN THIS SEASON.
Mirco Maestri redeems a complicated season (2020) by starting the 2021 season in the best way as possible by signing the fourth success of the team this season. After the victories of Davide Gabburo, Filippo Fiorelli and the very young Filippo Zana, the signature of one of the riders that is a symbol of the team.
Mirco Maestri wins the GP Slovenian Istria in a “restricted” sprint of about 35 riders, finalizing the great work done by his teammates to carry out the selection in a group. This is Mirco Maestri’s first success of the season and his third personal success in his career. The success is also the fourth of the season for Bardiani CSF Faizanè. 4 victories by 4 different riders demonstrating that the true strength of the #GreenTeam in this 2021 is the group and the team spirit.
THE RACE.
The GP Slovenian Istria developed over 156km of race with a good speed. After the fall that involved Nicholas Dalla Valle, rider designated by the team in the event of a group sprint, the Bardiani CSF Faizanè decides to take control of the race making it challenging in order to skim the group by focusing on a sprint with reduced ranks. In this way, about 35 units reach the finish line in the group of the best and Mirco Maestri wins, ahead of Leonardo Marchiori of Androni Giocattoli Sidermec.

“I am really happy with a victory that was needed for morale and to restart in the best possible way after last season. The race was quite demanding and luckily we managed to close on a breakaway attempt at the end. The sprint started very long 400 meter before the finish-line, but we knew that the wind was in favor. In the final I hoped to resist the return of the sprinters behind me because I was at the limit but I understood that they were too and so this important success for me and for the whole team arrived. happened to my whole family who supports me in difficult times and to Simona Zanotti, wife of a great friend of mine, who unfortunately passed away recently.”

After two good seasons with the victory of the Tour of Rhodes in 2018 and an excellent 2019 with the victory of the points jersey at the Tirreno-Adriatico and a stage at the Tour of China, 2020 was the black year of Mirco Maestri, who stopped earlier from the pandemic and at the time of his return to racing from a bad injury with a broken collarbone in the decisive months for his return.
