GREEN PROJECT BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: TOUR DE LANGKAWI. MANUELE TAROZZI NELLA FUGA DI GIORNATA. SFORTUNATA FORATURA DI COVILI IN SALITA CHE CHIUDE 12°.

Manuele Tarozzi is among the protagonists of the day's breakaway in the queen stage to Genting Highlands.

The fifth stage from Slim River to Genting Highlands determined the winner of the 2023 Tour de Langkawi. The riders in the green jersey had an impressive race. Right from the start, a breakaway group of the day was formed, initially consisting of 5 riders, later reduced to two, with Manuele Tarozzi and Simon Pellaud setting the pace for a good part of the long final climb. They were caught by the already selected group, with less than 15km to go. Among the remaining riders competing for the stage victory and the race, there was also Luca Covili.

Unluckily for the climber from the #greenteam, he got a puncture halfway up the climb, losing valuable seconds. He was forced to chase to make up for the disadvantage just when EF Education Easypost started the forcing. The Emilian rider finished 12th in the stage and is 12th in the general classification. The decisive moment of the race was when Simon Carr and Jefferson Cepeda attacked 6km from the finish line. It was the Englishman Carr who won alone at the top of Genting Highlands.

With 3 days of racing left in the Malaysian trip, the sprinters of the #greenteam will seek the much-desired stage victory. Zanoncello is still second in the points classification, behind Arvid De Kleijn. Tomorrow, the sixth stage starts at 7:00 in the morning on Eurosport 1 and is available for streaming on the Eurosport/GCN+ App.
