GREEN PROJECT BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: ZOCCARATO COMES CLOSE TO A FEAT AT THE GIRO D’ITALIA.

Samuele Zoccarato savors victory in this fifth stage of the Giro D'Italia: "For a moment I believed I could win."

An exciting stage that sees in Samuele Zoccarato the absolute protagonist of the breakaway of the day, started at km 0. The Venetian athlete of the #greenteam would find himself alone with a 1′ lead with just under 20km to go, caught at -7km by the group now fragmented by crashes.

Zoccarato’s words: “I didn’t think the breakaway would go that far, the idea of the team was to bring about ten riders in the breakaway, in the end we went in a few to the attack, I was surprised to have arrived so far. I believed it for a moment, it gave me a lot of morale when I saw the lead at -20km, I gave it everything, now we think about the next stages, the Giro is still long.”

Filippo Fiorelli in the unlucky finale hits the barriers in the sprint, finishes 8th despite the skid. Also involved in the earlier crash was Filippo Magli who fortunately suffered only minor injuries.
