BARDIANI CSF FAIZANÈ: FILIPPO ZANA IS THE NEW GC LEADER OF THE SAZKA TOUR.

Starting wearing the white jersey of best youngster, at the end of the queen stage of the Sazka Tour Filippo Zana now also wears the yellow jersey of leader of the general classification. His attack at -4km from the finish-line was decisive and allowed him to seize the second stage place and the leadership of the general ranking. Top10 placement also for Luca Covili and Davide Gabburo.

Filippo Zana is the new leader of the general classification of the Sazka Tour. Today the queen stage of the Czech Republic stage race took place. After the good performance of the second stage that led Filippo Zana to wear the white jersey of best young rider, today the Bardiani CSF Faizanè athlete was good at staying in the group of the best until the final, when, at -4km from the finish, he launched the decisive attack by imposing a good pace to gain precious seconds on Nicholas Schultz of the Bike Exchange team.

The stage victory goes to the Norwegian Johannessen of team Uno X, but thanks to today’s second place and the seconds gained, Filippo Zana is the new leader of the general classification, as well as obviously the leader of the youth classification reserved for Under23 athletes.

Good performance again also for Luca Covili and Davide Gabburo, again in the top10 of the day and for a long time in the group of the best until the attack of his teammate Filippo Zana, in what was the queen stage of the Sazka Tour with over 2,800 meters in altitude covered in 143 km.

These are the words of Filippo Zana after the finish line:

““I am satisfied with the performance, but with some regrets for the final result. I know this climb where I triumphed with the national team jersey in the Nations Cup. I attacked and caught the Uno X athlete overcoming him, I don’t even know how he then came to me again and unfortunately surprised me in the sprint. But what matters is to have spent enough seconds to conquer the general classification at least for today. Of course, another demanding stage is not over yet tomorrow, but together with my teammates we will do our best. “

Tomorrow the fourth and final stage from Sumperk to Sternberk, which will be decisive for the assignment of the yellow jersey with 174 km to go and another 2,500 meters in altitude to tackle, for a final that is anything but predictable.
