GREEN PROJECT BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: LUCA COVILI, THE FIRST AND ONLY ITALIAN IN THE TOP 10 AT THE CZECH TOUR.
Covili achieved an impressive 6th place overall at the Czech Tour, making him the first and only Italian to secure a spot in the Top 10 in the GC.
Luca Covili achieved a significant General Classification (GC) result at the Czech Tour, securing a commendable 6th place finish in a race that featured prominent names from the World Tour scene. The athlete from Modena, who has been a part of the #greenteam since 2019, reflected on the challenging months he has endured, including an unfortunate withdrawal from the Giro d’Italia and a demanding Italian championship.
In his own words: “After having to withdraw from the Giro d’Italia due to a severe gastroenteritis, it took me about 10 days to recover and an additional 2 weeks of training. My aim was to participate in the Italian championship with the goal of being fully prepared for the Sibiu Tour, which was scheduled 10 days later. Unfortunately, just 3 days before the race, I fell ill again, this time with a severe intestinal virus that left me completely drained. Despite this setback, I resumed my training diligently after a week, with the determination to be in good shape for the Czech Tour, which was planned for 2 weeks later. Initially, my feelings weren’t great, but by working hard and staying focused, my condition improved progressively.
Approaching the Czech Tour, I was confident in my condition, but having been away from racing for 2 months, I was uncertain how my body would respond to such intense efforts. Nevertheless, I was satisfied with my performance, considering the high level of my competitors. I believe I could have achieved even better results and secured a few positions higher, but that’s just part of the nature of the sport. Looking ahead, my next goal will be the Tour du Limousine race in 2 weeks, which is a beautiful and challenging event.
I’m determined to achieve another solid result in the overall standings. My passion for racing and the desire to push myself to the limit remain strong, and I’ll certainly be prepared for the upcoming challenges.”
