Masterful race management by the #greenteam, Manuele Tarozzi goes into the breakaway from the first kilometres and wins on the tough climb of Mont Kigali, it is the first Italian victory at the Tour du Rwanda. Henok Mulubrhan is leader of the general classification.

The decisive seventh stage of the Tour du Rwanda was won by the young Italian Manuele Tarozzi, a masterful race management of Green Project Bardiani-CSF Faizanè led by the sport director Luca Amoriello.

The race was controlled by a first breakaway group of 8 riders 15 km from the start, which was later joined by 12 other riders, including Filippo Fiorelli and Davide Gabburo. “El flaco” attacked 20 km from the finish, kept a lead of about thirty seconds at the beginning of the climb to Mont Kigali and thrilled the fans present by finishing alone. Davide Gabburo was 4th in the group of immediate chasers, 9th Filippo Fiorelli.

Manuele Tarozzi’s testimonies: “I attacked on the descent in the last lap, spurred on by my teammate Davide Gabburo, I arrived at the foot of Mont Kigali thirty seconds ahead, behind them my teammates helped me close the gap, the advantage was enough to finish alone, so many people cheered me on!” After the Vuelta a San Juan I feel like a new rider, I won in my own way and I hope I can continue the series of good results.”

Henok Mulubrhan had broken away from the chasing group and regained the yellow jersey thanks to an attack with 500 metres to go, the African Continental Champion took back the yellow jersey.
