Great start to this Giro d’Italia for the VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizanè. In the inaugural stage, from Venaria Reale to Turin, the men in blue showed grit and courage, notably Palermitan Filippo Fiorelli, who joined the day’s breakaway, winning the first GPM and the first intermediate sprint. Also, at the Superga GPM, the Palermitan secured the second position. In the points classification, he’s third with 18 points, ahead of him Narvàez (25pt) and Calmejane (20pt).
Meanwhile, Giulio Pellizzari, the youngest rider at this Giro d’Italia, showed great personality by battling on the final climb of San Vito alongside the biggest names, finishing the race in twentieth place. An excellent debut at the Giro d’Italia for the italian rider.
It’s worth mentioning the falls of Alessandro Tonelli and Domenico Pozzovivo, who fortunately didn’t sustain serious injuries but only superficial ones.
