VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: GIRO D’ITALIA. FILIPPO FIORELLI IS THE LEADER OF THE POINTS CLASSIFICATION.

Filippo Fiorelli is the protagonist of the second stage of the Giro d'Italia. The Sicilian has won the intermediate sprint and the Intergiro sprint.

Today, just like yesterday, Filippo Fiorelli initiated the breakaway of the day, consisting of five attackers, and secured victories in both the intermediate sprint and the Intergiro checkpoint. Thanks to today’s outcomes, the Palermitano claims the lead in the points classification and will once again don the cyclamen jersey tomorrow.

Here are Fiorelli’s remarks: “We calculated well; I knew that clinching the intermediate sprint and the Intergiro checkpoint would secure the jersey. I gave it my all, and it paid off. I was confident in my speed within the group. Having a sprinter like Zanoncello on the team allows me to diversify and enjoy the race without the constant pressure of sprinting. Over these two days, we’ve made our presence known, and securing the cyclamen jersey is a fantastic starting point. Let’s keep working hard and giving our all to entertain our fans.”

POINTS CLASSIFICATION:

Filippo Fiorelli 42pt

POGAČAR Tadej 27pt

NARVÁEZ Jhonatan 25pt

CALMEJANE Lilian 20pt

SCHACHMANN Maximilian 18pt

Also noteworthy is the performance of the Roman Martin Marcellusi, who was also part of today’s breakaway group but was eventually overtaken by the peloton on the final climb. Pozzovivo, Pellizzari, and Covili, however, persevered during the demanding ascent of Oropa. Pozzovivo finished the race in 17th place and currently holds the 20th position overall.
