VF GROUP BARDIANI-CSF FAIZANÈ: VOLTA VALENCIANA . FOURTH FILIPPO FIORELLI IN THE SECOND STAGE. TONELLI LEAD THE GC.
After yesterday's splendid victory, comes Fiorelli's excellent fourth place, now he's sixth in the GC.
Filippo Fiorelli narrowly misses the podium in this second stage of the Volta Valenciana, confirming his good form period. The work of Lucca and Zoccarato was decisive in keeping the breakaway in check; the two pulled for 90 km, allowing Tonelli to retain the yellow jersey as the leader of the general classification.
Fiorelli’s statements: “Today’s objective was to hold onto the leader’s jersey, and we all worked for that. I’m going through a good period of form, and today I also aimed for a good result. I got a bit stuck after the last corner, but nonetheless, we bring home a good fourth place that gives us hope for the upcoming races.”
Roberto Reverberi, team manager: “Both Lucca and Zoccarato were crucial; they allowed us to keep the breakaway under control. Fiorelli’s fourth place is good news, a result that gives us even more confidence for the next stages.”
